Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Released 30th May

To coincide happily with payday there’s a couple of month end releases due on 30th May. One of those releases is Activision’s Enemy Territory:Quake Wars. In case you didn’t notice the reference in the title, this is the latest addition to the popular Quake series of games. Billed as a tactical shooter, that essentially means that it’s yet another First Person Shooter being released on the 360, which is hardly a shock.

Quake Wars is an online only game offering what looks to be huge multi-player madness and a superb range of classes. Pleasantly, this FPS isn’t set during World War II, and instead takes the other well trodden route of earth vs aliens although it does throw in some fairly complex and even unique features along the way.

While the game is going to concentrate heavily on teamwork and team games, individuals can work alone to finish specific assignments awarding players with improved ranks and heightened experience.

Quake Wars is also a must play for those that love class based games, because the class options are seemingly huge. As well as their being five basic choices of classes in each of the two races (Humans and Stroggs) there is also a mass of weapons and an incredible number of vehicles to choose from.

Until now, a lot of games have quite plainly put the majority of their effort into the multiplayer aspect of a game but not had any qualms hocking it as a single player game. It’s good, in some respects, to see Quake Wars going all out and selling itself as the multiplayer mammoth it could prove to be.

Looking forward to seeing the results of this in a few days time. In the meantime we’ll keep you updated with a few guides to the various aspects of the game.
