Overlord Boss Guide

Wreak Havoc And Raise Hell - Overlord (XBox 360)This is a guide to defeating the bosses in Overlord on the XBox 360. In all honesty, the boss battles, with exception of one or two, aren’t that difficult and you’ll certainly find greater challenges on other XBox 360 fantasy games. Nevertheless, a guide for your consideration.

Melvin

He’s the fat bloke beyond the Halfling party and in Melvin’s kitchen (where else?). Have fun setting the cooks alight and then enter Melvin’s kitchen for real. As far as bad guys you shouldn’t struggle.

For the first half of the fight, just send your minions in and whack him with your axe. When he starts to jiggle around a bit, get out of the way of his belly flop and don’t forget to call your minions away too.

For the final section of the fight he rolls around the floor after you. You can either wade in with all minions blazing or send them out of the way, wait for him to hit a wall and then rush him from behind. Stay behind him and you’ll have it in the bag.

Once his health hits zero you have to walk up and whack him (as with all the boss battles). Job done.

Oberon

Oberon has rather foolishly fallen asleep in a tree (don’t you just hate it when that happens?). You have to destroy six tree nodes through the Elf’s forest and surrounding regions before you can face Oberon himself. I’m leaving the Node placement for another guide but it’s all pretty simple linear puzzle following using your minions to get through certain areas.

When Oberon finally wakes up you have to fight him. There’s a ramp at the foot of the tree where you can send your minions to attack him and there’s a brown minion portal and a blue manna well on the left.

Sweep your minions up the ramp to attack and run about a bit, avoiding the dust clouds that appear occasionally under foot – these will quickly become logs and hurt you.

Oberon will summon a few waves of monsters to attack you. It’s really up to you how to deal with them. Either use your minions before sending them back up the ramp to attack Oberon again, or get your hands dirty and take them on yourself.

The final wave is trolls where you might have a little more difficulty, but it’s still nothing too taxing. Once you’ve been through these waves, there will be a cut scene and you need to finish the job with a quick blow.

Job done.
