Developers and publishers are always trying to dream up new and innovative ways to milk more money from the cash cow (that’s us gamers, by the way). They occasionally produce an awesome game and within minutes it’s become one of the world’s largest franchises with some incredible merchandise. In the same way, there’s often a load of old tosh available too. Which category this will fall under still remains to be seen.

The Halo board game really could go either way. They could get those responsible for creating epic D&D style fantasy games in on the act and generate a whole new generation of Warhammer or they could, and we suspect probably will, go a lot more mainstream.

Unfortunately, as themanfromdelmonte.co.uk points out, the Halo board game includes a quite baffling combination of modular board to offer virtually limitless gameplay and scenarios (that’s probably good), and DVD and music (that’s quite probably bad and just a good excuse to hike the price up in our humble opinion).

We hope to stand corrected, and we also hope that they avoid making what essentially turns out to be an odd Halo Monopoly (Pokemon Monopoly while we wait, anybody?) but the introduction of music and DVD footage just doesn’t bode well in our eyes.
